2nd Annual Harvey Milk FestivalTh 2nd Annual Harvey Milk Festival is set to be held May 20-22nd, 2011 in the Rosemary District, located in Sarasota, Florida. Aligned with ceremonies planned across the nation, the event's aim is to raise awareness about Lesbian, gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) rights on both state and federal levels. The festival features national and local musicians and performance artists, along with political activists from around the globe. Harvey Milk is an American equal rights activist and politician who became the first openly gay man to be elected in a California public office.Presently, the festival's advisory committee is seeking volunteers, sponsors, and street team members. CALLING VOLUNTEERS
FYI: Harvey Milk Festival Volunteer Committees... This is a tentative list of the committees that we have set up for the festival along with the name of the board member responsible for the committees. We are actively recruiting members for these committees as of now, so if you are interested in a particular committee, please go to the website at harveymilkfestival.com and let us know which committees you are interested in serving on by registering as a volunteer by clicking on the red "Volunteer" header. Although we have board members assigned to oversee the committees, we are also actively looking for committed committee chairs who would like to work with the board members as well. For more information about any of these committees, feel free to contact the board members directly or you are free to pose questions here. We appreciate all of your interest, enthusiasm, support, and help and acknowledge you for the contributions you make to the community each day, and especially through this particular festival.
